Maintenance Tips

Follow these guidelines to keep your hearing aids in good operating condition.
• Don’t expose your hearing aids to excessive moisture. Remove them before bathing or swimming.
• Don’t apply hair spray while wearing your hearing aids.
• Beware of temperature extremes. Stay away from excessive heat, such as a stove or open fire and don’t expose your hearing aids to extreme cold (0°F or less) unless you are wearing them at the time.
• Be careful not to drop your hearing aids onto hard surfaces.
• Keep hearing aids and batteries out of reach of children and pets.
• When you’re not using your hearing aids, remove the batteries and store your aids in the case provided at purchase.

Cleaning
• Wipe your hearing aids or earmold and tubing every day with a clean, soft cloth. Then, clean using a disinfectant wipe (or tissue sprayed with disinfectant) from your Amplifon Hearing Aid Center. Never immerse hearing aids in water.
• Clean the receiver and vent openings with an appropriate wax removal tool. Be sure to ask for instructions on how to prevent damage to the receiver.

Battery care and replacement
• Turn your hearing aids off when you remove them to conserve batteries. If they don’t have an on/off switch, open the battery door.
• Remove the batteries at night and when hearing aids will not be used for an extended period. Store batteries in a safe, dry place.
• Keep the battery compartment clean and dry and wipe the battery before inserting.
• Discard used batteries carefully and make sure they do not come in contact with infants, small children or pets. Hearing aid batteries are dangerous if swallowed.*

*If a hearing aid battery is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
