Symptoms of Hearing Loss

These common symptoms may signal that you may be experiencing gradual hearing loss.

The need for words to be repeated
You may miss words or phrases either because you don't understand them, or because you confuse them with other words. At the same time, you may also perceive low-frequency sounds (such as electrical household appliances or traffic) as overly loud, which may be irritating.

Difficulty understanding conversations in certain settings
If more than one person is talking at the same time, or if a conversation takes place in traffic or inside a car, you may have more trouble understanding.

Misunderstandings in conversation
Words contain low frequency sounds, like vowels, and high frequency sounds, mainly in some consonants. High frequency sounds are usually the first sounds you may have difficulty hearing. You may misunderstand or not hear them at all especially when spoken by children with higher voices.

You may need to turn up the volume on the TV
